Ruaha’s wildlife

I am behind with blogs so will let these photos speak for themselves. They showcase a small range of the animals that call Ruaha their home. Perhaps a little macabre, make sure to check out the giraffe drumstick being hoarded by the lion cubs for them to chew on when their full stomachs have some space. The big 5 are the typical focus of guided tours, and you will see four across the photos (lion, buffalo, giraffe and elephant). While it is always a privilege and exciting to see them, we were fortunate that our guide was prepared to drive at a pace that allowed plenty of bird watching. Alas, my bird photography skills are pretty average so you’ll have to be content with my sharing mostly the larger wildlife.

    1. From a car and on a guided game drive. We didn’t have time to sit around camp but if we had we would have seen some interesting wildlife, including a few lions passing through the camp. xkx

  1. Wow, can’t believe how close you got to those lions and elephants—so epic! 🐘🦁 Ruaha is seriously wild—home to around 10% of Africa’s lions and East Africa’s biggest elephant population! Love that your guide even slowed down for a bit of bird action (bonus: over 570 bird species here wowwww! These shots are pure safari magic—thanks for sharing this adventure!

    1. I see you’ve done your homework! One of my colleagues is a serious birder and apparently we saw about 65 of the 570 species. Always a privilege to go on a guided drive. xkx
