I have always considered myself to be fairly proactive with recycling and reuse as a way to conserve the earth’s resources. But in the streets I see people selling plastics bags and drink bottles for reuse, such that my trusty, battered, metal water flask now seems to shine like a beacon of luxury. Zimbabwe is teaching me that there is far more scope for reuse compared to my practices. Yes, we are giving once-used matches a second outing: a practice that seems to epitomise Zimbabwean’s need for frugality.Β However, I am human and I expect that I will resort to disposing of used matches in my compost upon my return to the land of plenty. π

We Ozzies could probably learn a lot from them, so good to see they recycle. xKx
