Hillside Manor

The first week has been busy with meetings and some sight-seeing near Bulawayo. Alongside rolling power cuts (due to the low levels in the Kariba Dam and reduced hydro power), this has presented internet access challenges. However, I have arrived and have had a very fruitful first week and there will be more posts fill you in. This first blog shows my lodgings for the next few months and you can see that I have landed on my feet. There are plenty of old colonial homes in the suburb that I’m staying in and at the moment I have most of Hillside Manor to myself. My room is on the second floor (left of picture) and nice and large. Plus I have a lovely view of the garden from my window … perfect to situate my desk next to. More later …

  3. That looks great! I didn’t know you would have such fancy digs. Enjoy your time there, it shouldn’t be too hard, right?

    1. There will be challenges with the study but that is to be expected. But the Zimbabweans are very welcoming and there are some awesome parks. More to follow …. xkx

    1. I was not surprised. a) because I had seen it online and b) because there are lots of old colonial mansions/houses in Bulawayo. What the photos can’t show is the rolling power and water cuts. Not a problem for someone who likes camping but you have to be on the ball to boil and reserve water. Your bottle of olive oil has been gratefully received. Hope things are well with you all and the new generation. xkx
