The Nswatugi cave contains San rock art that dates from about 13,000 to 500 years ago. The cave has been excavated leaving the art stranded on a horizon that is above tempted fingers. Light funnels down to illuminate small, delicate hunters—spears at the ready—who chase across the landscape and hunt unmistakeable prey: the kudu’s ears are alert to the hunter; two giraffes move with an elegance that belies their height; and zebra’s wear their obvious stripes. In places, it is clear that another abstract layer of ochre dots once covered portions of the gallery but this has long since peeled away and only small and uninterpretable patches remain.
Wow! Beautiful and fascinating.. Looks like you’re having a wonderful time. All best from us, K&Gxx
I certainly am Kim. I’ll be in the UK for two and a half months from early sept to mid November. So hoping we can catch up & I’m also wondering about hiring some lakeside caravan for a few weeks in the lakes at some point. Hope you’re both well. xkx
