Small or large, with leaves or without, baobabs always impress and have a special majesty. We came across this old tree in Mudumu National Park, which had withstood the attention of elephants for a considerable time. Elephants remove the bark and inner wood for nutrients and stored moisture and will also rub themselves against the trunk. In the process, the tree is whittled away and becomes calloused as it heals. Apparently, elephants enjoy the seeds too, and contribute to spreading the trees across the landscape.
