A beautiful day’s walk, taking us from Llansannan to Pandy Tudor. ‘Beautiful’ included discovering old mill buildings on small, vigorous streams; watching the sun gradually light up a hillside dotted with beacon-white sheep; following sheltered lanes with high-sided hedgerows and a mossed centre; and enjoying expansive views taking in valleys, moorland and the beginning of the Snowdonia mountain range. For lunch, and shattering the peace of the day, the RAAF put on a display with jet fighters thundering round the sky and skimming low over our heads. But they headed back to base when the rain came, leaving us to enjoy the rest of the day’s walk.
