Mountain walk

A few more photos from the mountain walk from two days ago. For almost three quarters of the day we walked above the clouds and watched their thin and wispy form ebb and flow through the valleys. Occasionally these misty wraiths would obscure small mountain villages, tucked neatly in the gullies, then stretch and thin themselves to reveal the villages once more. Eventually, we descended below the cloud line to pass through old villages with narrow, paved streets lined with stone and timber buildings: some renovated and others threatening to crumble beyond help. The descent through the clouds had sucked my warmth, which was restored by a bowl of soup of leafy greens: maybe the walking stick kale (a guess) that has featured prominently in local vegetable gardens. The days walk ended with a tough and steep 900m descent. Energy was restored through one of heartiest albergue meals that I’ve had so far and a bottle of Asturian cider.

    1. Yes, I’m feeling good. No stress, almost no decisions to be made and plenty of exercise. I actually haven’t found much cider but Spanish red wine has been an excellent substitute!
