Before the sun rises the sky is a mix of pastel shades, but always with criss crossed lines where planes have left scratch marks of colour across the pale blue awakening sky: in this picture the lines are white and other days they are soft pink or lavender. As the sun rises, the farmed and cropped landscape contrasts beautifully with the dark red berries that line the path. But give the sun another half an hour and it paints the fields and dry grass with a spectacular golden glow. Early morning on the Meseta: a stunning time of day.
