This photo is a close up of a small section of one of the many treads that run across the steps of the London Underground’s stairways. Treads, foot-polished and kept shiny by the millions of feet that have scuffed across them since they were first laid in place. For me, this photo epitomises the numbers of people moving around London: were their feet as tired as mine from the stopping, starting, dodging, standing and constant jostling for position?
