It’s mainly because we have a host of water craft accompanying our travels—one fishing boat and two kayaks—that we have keenly felt the winds that have been berating the south coast of Western Australia for the last week and a bit. The boat has stayed on its trailer and the kayaks have only had a couple of short outings and the main benefit of this exercise being that I’m clearer about the maximum wind that I can paddle against and still make incremental progress: twenty five kilometres per hour is about my muscle limit. Above that and I’m going backwards. Even the shallowest of rock pools are being swept into a frenzy of miniscule waves. Some largesse here with the description, but I think you’ll get the picture about it being windy.
