Kangaroo paws crossed my path

All my associations with kangaroo paws have been as ornamental plants or as cut flowers. As bizarre as it sounds, I had never contemplated them growing wild in their natural setting. But here they are in Warren National Park, growing profusely along the walking trail. The long stems drooped over the path—stems much taller even that me!—ensuring that their paws crossed my path, gently clawing my legs and inviting my attention. “Look at me, look at me”, they bobbed, “Here we are growing wild and unfettered”.
