The bridges of Western Australia

The ‘bridges of Western Australia’ is not quite as evocative as ‘the Bridges of Madison County’ but WA’s timber bridges have their charm. Western Australia is big timber country so it’s not surprising that this material is used in many of the bridges that span the rivers of the southerly parts of this state. In a kayak, you get quite a different perspective compared to driving over the bridge where you are oblivious to the timber construction below. Shown here are Alexander Bridge, Molloy Island footbridge and the disused railway bridge at Nannup: all spanning the Blackwood River.
