A special red dog

The Red Dog memorial at Dampier brought back many memories of a special kelpie that will be known to at least one of you that follow this blog. A red kelpie that: I retrieved from Victor Harbor and Mylor after a twenty plus kilometre escape from the farm; caused me to allay the fears of the local police that her loyal owners were not lost in the Willunga hills but were holidaying in Canada; I took to the vet to have stitched up after she didn’t quite make it over the barbed wire fence; needed the use of a puppy box after ‘just getting fat’ turned into five puppies and who fought viciously with my own kelpie only to band together with her later to chase roos. Ah those were the days. What a dog. What a special red dog.
