Nitmiluk campground hosts

Lovely campground and gregarious wildlife. When not slurping droplets from water taps, the Rainbow Lorikeets were dazzling with their synchronised aeronautical displays: “OK chaps, first the belly roll to sweep the camp and display rainbow coloured bellies to the lucky onlookers. Now for the reverse fly past with backs turned showing jet-like streaks of lime green. Keep it together in the Southern Cross formation … nicely done. And again for the awe struck tourists? Sure, why not.” The downside of the lorikeets is their prodigious shitting capabilities when you camp under their favourite shitting tree: splat on me, splat on the kindle and splats and smears all over the camper. The other two cuties in the photos – agile wallabies – were attracted by my honey. Noses all aquiver they approached confidently, reaching out for their share of my breakfast. They were denied, well the sign says not to. I’m a stickler for rules and I didn’t like the look of their claws – oversized for such a cute and small wallaby.
