Salmon gums

Salmon gums proliferate the roadside vegetation around Kalgoorlie and further south. Again, my photos do not do them full justice: you get a hint of their gorgeous colours, but you will have to go see for yourself. These gums are just stunning in early morning and late afternoon light, towering like beacons over the surrounding bush. Upon seeing a particularly delicious stand, there is a temptation to rush up and lick, chew or take a bite of what is delectably similar to a huge slab of Atlantic salmon. Of course, this is hyperbole gone mad. But they are a feast for the eye.
