Kennedy Range: rocks

There were some really fascinating rocks at Kennedy but I need to consult with John Rasch to find out what they are! The brochures encourage you to look out for opalite and mookarite and marine fossils in the layers of sandstone and shale. I didn’t find opalite or fossils but there were numerous curious dark grey roundish boulders that attracted my attention – sometimes broken and hollow or filled with a white ochre-like stone. Such interesting shapes and sometimes located within larger rocks or creating the edging for small waterfalls. Most photogenic. On flatter areas there were also large expanses of dark blue metallic rocks that were not easy to capture on camera but created a shiny crusty-looking surface when viewed from a distance.
