Yardie Creek camp ground: Cape Range National Park

What can you say? [1] Find a nice spot to camp. [2] Do the local Yardie Creek Gorge walk. [3] Watch black-footed rock wallabies. [4] Find a special ledge to view the gorge and pools. [5] Do some mullett watching – yes, fish watching as well as bird watching – from the ledge. [6] Watch osprey – firstly on the cliff edge and then swooping on the mullet below. [7] Wait for green turtles to show their heads. [8] Watch the female crested pigeon teasing the male – she flies, he follows, she ducks under a bush, he follows, she flies, he doesn’t and she bobs her head and lifts her tail “Come get me”. [9] Make a nice breakfast. [10] Laugh at the camp cleaner who is very diligent at finding the smallest bread crumb. [11] Marvel at the gorge colours from a kayak. [12] Eat dinner overlooking the sunset. [13] Observe that fish cleaning or beach decoration is a far better use of an ironing board. Repeat [1] to [13] as frequently as you like. I did. For 5 days.

  1. 5 days. Wow. With your new found fishing skills I did half expect to see a fish on the plate! Cider in stubby holder noted. ☺

    1. No fishing gear yet leena. I’m waiting to get more into fishing when i can be around some people who can show me what to do. A cider a day – it’s my daily tonic.
