Places don’t always have the same impact the second time around. But my gut feeling said I should revisit Kings Canyon and it did not disappoint. I first visited more than 20 years ago. This was during summer when the day temperature climbed over 40 degrees. Back then you could camp next to the canyon and there were no gates that closed off the rim walk when the expected temperature was above 36 degrees. The helicopters flying overhead are another change: makes you feel like some permanent emergency is going on around you. But the rim walk is still spectacular with wonderful colours in the rocks and with every turn of the track there is a new visual experience. Definitely worth the detour off the Stuart Highway.
I love the photos Karen and your posts. Glorious country! Judith
